SUMMARY
The 'Great American Writer' is a romanticised illusion. The best ideas don't happen behind closed doors, incubated by a lone genius. Many minds are more creative than one.
Inspired by human experiences like passing notes or telling stories around a campfire, StoryShare is a mobile web app that leverages the power of both collaboration and constraint. By allowing users to collaboratively craft stories, StoryShare helps writers break free of their mental blocks, creating the optimal environment for one idea to ignite many more. By limiting the length of each written contribution, StoryShare harnesses the creative power of constraint, encouraging writers to express their ideas in new and concise ways.
StoryShare began as a project by Helen Anderson, Sam Gussman, and myself for CS147: Human-Computer Interaction Design at Stanford University. It was awarded for "Best Demonstrated User Need" by a panel of professionals from top user experience and interaction design teams at Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and other tech companies.
